Head
Coach Trevor Monroe is entering his fifth year as Head Coach of the
Rosemount Irish Baseball program.
In 2005,
Monroe was hired as an Assistant Coach by then Head Coach Craig Kusick.
Prior to the beginning of the season, Monroe replaced Kusick on an
interim basis before taking over the job as a full-time position.
Monroe is
currently a Physical Education Teacher/Coach at Rosemount Middle School.
A native of
Radium, Minnesota, Monroe graduated from Warren High School in 1990.
At Warren
High School, Monroe was a three sport athlete (football, basketball and
golf) guiding both his Basketball and Golf teams to State Tournament
appearances.
After
graduating from Warren, Monroe attended the University of Wyoming (NCAA
Division I) in Laramie, Wyoming on a golf scholarship.
Monroe is a
former Wyoming State Amateur Golf Champion (1993) and former two-time
Tri-State (Colorado-Nebraska-Wyoming) Amateur Golf Champion (1994 and
1995).
Monroe also
played one year of college basketball in 1991.
A 1996
graduate of the University of Wyoming, Monroe earned a degree in
Physical Education/Teaching (K-12) with a Coaching Certification.
Monroe also has a Masters Degree in Education from St. Mary’s/University
of Minnesota, earning that degree in 2002.
Monroe is a
member of the Minnesota State High School Baseball Coaches Association
(’05) as well as a member of the American Baseball Coaches Association
(’05).
Previously,
Monroe was a Girls’ Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach at Eagan High
School (1996), Assistant Girls’ Varsity Golf Coach at Rosemount High
(1997) and a Volunteer Assistant Boys’ Golf Coach at Rosemount High
(2002-2004). Monroe also coaches 8A football (1998-present), wrestling
7/8 (1999, 2002-present), and 8A boy’s basketball (1998-present) at
Rosemount Middle School.
In
Monroe’s four years as Varsity Head Baseball Coach, the Irish have
played in three Section Final Four’s (2005, 2007, 2008) with the Irish
finishing Runner-Up in Section 1AAA in 2007 and Section 3AAA Champions
in 2008.
Monroe received the 3M/PlayBall!/Minnesota
Twins COACHES AWARD for the 2007 season. Monroe was also named Section
3AAA Coach of the Year in 2008. Monroe resides in Farmington with his
wife Suzy and daughter Hailey (11).
